How Do I Stop My Computer Turning Off Randomly?

I have recently bought a Power Mac G5. Most of the time it works absolutely fine. However, in the couple of months I have had it, it has made a loud noise and turned itself off a couple of times. It can be rebooted immediately and operates normally. Fortunately I haven’t lost anything but I am worried that I could lose important information soon if this begins to happen frequently.
Thanks,
Joe.

May have a faulty fan, when it goes out, the computer overheats, it will shut itself down to protect itself.
You could get speedfan program. it is free , and monitor the fans.

I was going to suggest the fan too - but I had a similar problem on a PC a couple of years ago. It turned out, if I plugged too many USB devices in at the same time, it used too much power. After a couple of visits to the shop, it was determined to be a faulty motherboard. This was replaced, and I’ve not had this problem since. Mine didn’t make the loud noise before spontaneously ‘powering down’, so maybe in your case, the fan’s movement is restricted in some way. I’d take it back to the shop soon, I assume it’s under warranty, before any permanent damage is caused. Good luck.

You should check your fan coz that’s probably the problem. I might be braoken or blocked or really dusty causing your machine to overheat.
    Hope this helps
