Ipod Won’t Play In The Left Channel Of Anything, Without Coercion.?

I won the iPod at school in September, the warranty should still be around.. but I hate dealing with those people at tech support. I take things apart that are broken and fix them, so if worst comes to worst, I’ll take it apart myself and attempt to fix it… but heres the problem.
Any pair of headphones I plug in to the pod will only play in the right channel unless i apply pressure to the headphone jack. It’s almost as though the rings for left and right, distinguishing from stereo and mono, are not touching the right recepters. I’ve tried cleaning out the jack, but to no avail.
I really don’t have the money to replace it, and I use my ipod at least 50% of my day.. I don’t want to void the warranty, if I still have it…

At first I thought it might be the iPod headphones but apparently it’s the hack itself.
By the looks of it this won’t be a simple DIY project. You might need to take it back to the store from where it was purchased from and get a new one.
